Proven on the statement you drop. Not on a logo wall.

We do not keep a list of banks we trust. Each PDF has to match its own printed opening and closing balance, to the penny, before you can download it. There is nothing to look up first. Preview is free.

How the proof works

Step 1

Read every line

Date, description, amount and the running balance the bank printed after each transaction. Every page, including the ones under a footer or a "continued" banner.

Step 2

Add it up the bank's way

The statement prints its own answer key: an opening balance and a closing balance. Opening plus credits minus debits has to land on the printed closing figure, to the penny. The running balance is checked row by row as well.

Step 3

Download only if it ties

A pass means every row was read right. A miss shows the first row where the chain broke, so a fix takes a minute instead of a rescan. Nothing downloads quietly.

opening balance + credits − debits = printed closing balance

Why there is no bank list

A logo wall says a layout was seen once. It does not say your statement was read right. The proof is run on your file, every time, so the question "is my bank supported" is answered by the file itself in about a minute, for free.

Drop the PDF. A failed tie is not a charge. Most new layouts read on the first try; the proof tells you either way.

Combined and commercial files

A combined statement with several accounts under one cover page is split into accounts, each with its own proof. Long commercial statements of sixty pages and several hundred rows tie the same way.

Scans, password-protected, image-only

Password-protected files: type the password under the drop zone; it stays in memory. A scan with a text layer reads as text. An image-only PDF is read with OCR on our own server, then judged like any other statement: it ties, or the proof shows exactly where it does not and any download you choose to take is named UNPROVEN.

How a layout gets added

If the layout is new and does not tie, email ville@pennyclose.com with the bank name. It is added within 24 hours on business days. A statement that does not tie is not a charge.

EU bank and card PDFs convert the same way; the proof is the printed balance, not a logo.

Questions

My bank is missing. Now what?

Drop the PDF anyway. Preview is free and a failed tie is not a charge. If the layout is new, email the bank name to ville@pennyclose.com. It is added within 24 hours on business days.

Combined statements with several accounts?

Yes. Combined business checking files split into accounts, each with its own printed opening and closing balance and its own proof. Combined statements.

Password-protected PDFs?

Yes. Type the password in the field under the drop zone. It is kept in memory for the parse and never written anywhere.

Image-only scans and OCR?

An image-only PDF is read with OCR on our own server, no third-party service in the path. The result is judged like any other statement: it ties, or the proof shows where it does not. You can still take the file after ticking that you checked the grid; it is then named UNPROVEN and never billed.
