One row per transaction: Date, Description, Amount, Debit, Credit, Balance, Check number. Real numeric cells, not text. Dates as YYYY-MM-DD.
Opening + credits − debits has to equal the printed closing balance, or you do not download. The proof sits above the grid, before the workbook is ever built.

One row per transaction. Columns: Date, Description, Amount, Debit, Credit, Balance, Check number.
Amounts are numeric cells, not text. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD, so a pivot or a VLOOKUP does not have to guess the month.
No merged headers, no page footers, no "continued" lines inside the data.
Drop several statements together and each one is proven on its own. The cross-month check tells you whether they chain.
A spreadsheet that is missing one line looks exactly like one that is complete. The printed closing balance is the only number on the page that can tell them apart. So the proof runs before Excel is built, and you read it before you download. Edit a cell and it runs again.
Notes for a reviewer, not a verdict. Each one points at the rows behind it.
Opening + credits − debits must equal the printed closing. If it does not, there is no download and no charge.
February's opening has to be January's closing. Gaps and overlaps get a note.
The same date, amount and description twice, or a row that moves money between your own accounts. Flagged before it is booked as income or expense.
CSV, QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo), Xero bank-import CSV, OFX, QFX and QIF. Same rows, same proof, no extra charge.

This grid exists only in this tab. Click a cell to edit date, description or amount; ± flips debit/credit. The proof re-runs on every edit.
